Bridgette and Raven now in their prime

Bridgette and Raven are grown now.  Bridgette is 7 y/o; and, Raven is 3 y/o.  Their antics continue as cats tend to have them frequently.  Bridgette is bigger than many cats at 14 lbs.and some dogs that I previously had and better behaved and trained than the dogs were and than Raven.  She is trained to alert me if a snake is in the yard, by coming in from the lanai and making a unique mini bark sound.  she knows when there is a preditor and to use care.  She opens doors by the door knobs.  She sits up for her treats.  Raven on the other hand charges right into trouble.  What a handful she is even at 3.  But if she wants something she will pester you until she gets it, by meowing, purring and rubbing your face with hers incessantly.  Luckily, both girls come when called and separately by their individual names.  Bridgette has better sight and vision, but Raven is extremely fast.  Long and skinny at only 9 lbs., but as long as the larger Bridgette, who it a tall kitty, Raven could never jump a high as Bridgette.  Raven still can go anywhere by stretching to a spot and climbing up and/or sprinting into jump.  She loves to tight rope walk and walks on the rails of my walker and the like, which Bridgette is just not built to do.

Raven, Bridgette's Little Buddy.

Bridgette's new friend, Raven, born 2/1/09 was chosen to be a close breed to Aby Tabby, Bridgette; but, it was not to be. Rescued at a rural Humane Society, she turned out to be pure Oriental Shorthair with a classic black svelte coat and just a small white star on her chest. Raven full grown is half as big as Bridgette, but just as long, very lean and walks very thin rails, like on my walker following a recent knee replacement that I had. Because of Bridgette's age, size and nature they both get along very well with Bridgette now 5yrs and Raven 18 months. Check out the new photos.

Bridgette

Bridgette was found on a bridge in rush hour traffic. She almost didn't make it, but I stopped and rescued her. I had been planning to get a shelter cat but fate entered in. At 1st I thought "what a homely kitty, I would never have picked you". Most all my previous pets had been black, 4 dogs, 1 cat and a rabbit.

She was only 6 weeks old and missed her mother. What phenomenal pet she is. She is so obedient and loving. Also, I am amazed at her abilities. She can broad jump and high jump 9 feet with enough incentive, climbing palm trees up 12 to 15 ft high and coming back down. My vet and I agree that her strongest gene is Abyssinian. She can pass for a pure breed diluted tortie Aby with all the characteristic flaws of the breed, too.

She has never scratched or damaged any property, although she tends to eat some of my plants unless I keep her with plenty of cat grass to nibble on.
